Okay, here’s my sad story. We’re having record-breaking heat here in California. The last few days have hit 110. So my air conditioner blew up. Boo hoo, we’re so spoiled, right. But upstairs it got to be hotter than outside at points. The big issue is that my mother, almost 89 and very fragile lives with me. She stays downstairs, so she’s doing okay and we watch her closely. Me and my two boys are toughing it out, but not being very productive in the heat. They manage to go swimming with friends each day and I just do only what I need to do. Today is installation day, but the workmen are stalled right now waiting for the unit to arrive. I had to buy the whole system, heating and air conditioning. And I had to just max out a credit card, and I really can’t afford it — but I can’t afford not to either. BUT, inspite of the inconvenience, I feel really blessed that we do enjoy modern homes with air conditioning (even when they need replacing). I live in one of the greatest places in one of the greatest countries in the world. And tonight I should be enjoying a brand new energy efficient, COOL home. I’m very lucky.

Yikes, I’d actually break down and spend time at the mall. (not really my favorite place)

Normally I’d just take my kids and head for the beach where it’s at least 20 degrees cooler, but I can’t leave my mom with no air. Good news is the unit arrived about 15 minutes ago and I can hear them installing it. So unless there’s another snag, we’ll be cool in about four hours!

Good news at least, plus your computer is still running despite the heat! My last desktop used to hate the heat and kept powering off.
If nothing else, hopefully your electric bills will be a bit lower from now…
And then maybe tomorrow you can take off to the beach

Glad they’re there doing the installation! I remember when ours broke and we had to go for four days (holiday weekend) without AC here in Texas. Totally not fun. Hope you have a nice chilly evening!
